In most planning authority areas, a pre-application enquiry can be made before a planning application is submitted to ascertain the authority’s initial views on the proposed development and supporting information they might expect to be submitted with an application. The level of feedback varies across authorities, and any views given in response to a pre-application enquiry are not ultimately binding, but, depending on the nature and location of any proposed development, as well as the circumstances surrounding it, this can be a useful process.
We can advise on the merits or otherwise of submitting a pre-application enquiry in any individual case, as well as preparing and submitting the enquiry on your behalf, and advising on the next steps following receipt of the planning authority’s response to that, ensuring that optimal use is made of this process.
